Termites are social insects and are best known for their wood-eating habit. They feed on anything that contains cellulose. Each termite colony consists of three castes, workers, soldiers and reproductives. These castes are physically distinct and perform different tasks in the society. A termite queen is an egg-laying machine. She can lay up to 1000 eggs a day, tended, fed by the workers and regularly fertilized by the king.
Detecting termite Presence
Termites are difficult to detect as they live in underground colonies, feasting on your house slowly and by the time you discover them, it will usually be several years later, which by this time, they have already caused substantial structural damage not only to your property, but to your pocket as well.
However, there are times when you can see a swarm of termites during moisture conditions. These swarms are attracted to light and are often found around lighting fixtures, window sills, doors and vents. Another way of detecting them is by the presence of mud tubes and damaged wood which sounds hollow.
Sagging floors, cracked paints and signs of dampness, dark areas and blisters in wood flooring also indicates termites infestation.
It is best to inspect your house regularly for termite vulnerable spots, where they might enter from. If you do find, or strongly suspect that there are termites on your property, do no panic. Do not disturb the area. Termites are extremely sensitive and may leave when disturbed. We have found many properties with extensive termite damage. A regular termite inspection could have prevented this, allowing for effective treatment. Don't risk termites destroying your home without knowing it!
Eradicate Termite Effectively
Terminator Tube is the world's first non-toxic, non-chemical termite monitoring and attractant baiting system, using an organic attractant formula that gives off a pheromone that attracts termites. Terminator tube does not only eliminates the colonies, but most importantly, it can create a full property defense system against termite infestation. Specially designed for water injection, the Terminator Tube is suitable for tropical and arid climates. Made from low profile, high impact materials, it provides virtually unbreakable service for years to come.
The Installation process
1) It is recommended that the Terminator Tube be installed 3-4 metres apart from another (depending on the severity of infestation), covering the perimeter of the property.
2) Drilling will be carried out prior to the installation of the Terminator Tube, by means of an auger.
3) Terminator Tube is inserted into the ground.
4) Bait is dropped into the tube and sealed off, away from children and animals.
5) These tubes are inspected six to eight weeks later for signs of termite infestation
The Treatment Process
1) When sufficient termites are held within the Terminator Tube, termicides are used to eradicate these termites, infecting back to the colony.
2) Follow up is required seven days after treatment. These include inspection of dead termites within the bait and new baits added into the tube.
3) Professional pest controllers will advise on the follow up of these baits (We recommend one to three months subsequently)
